Feeling Pensive

I was looking at myself in the mirror tonight and I realized something wonderful ... I love myself. I truly love every part of me.

It has taken me such a long time to get to a place in me where there wasn't something that I just couldn't stand or felt like needed fixing. That's not to say that I suddenly think I'm perfect, no matter how much I joke around about it. I know I have room for improvement. Everyone does. But I can truly say that I am currently being the best me that I could be.

I have felt so beautiful for the last little while. I love the way I look. I want to continue to work at being healthier, but I don't really care if I lose weight. I don't feel the need to be all skinny. I feel beautiful the way I am and comfortable in my skin. I've had a moment of that here or there in the past. But it's what my life is made up of right now and I'm so happy about it.

The Lord has been so kind to me. He's been teaching me some hard lessons. How to be patient, merciful, and forgiving not only to others but more especially to myself. I have always had a good bit of a perfectionist in me. And I've always been hardest on myself. But the Lord has been showing me how to laugh at my blunders, how to pick myself up and dust myself off with love and care when I do an absolute face-plant, how to remember that I'm not perfect and was never meant to be in this life.

So, I don't know how long this feeling will last. I hope it will only grow and get better. It might fade away as my hair grows out. :) Don't know. But I am so grateful to be experiencing it now and will do my best to love every minute of it.
