It's me again!

Hello!! I'm writing!! I know you're all impressed. My life has multiplied in busy-ness. School is good. Classes are so interesting and challenging... and busy-making. I'm in Phonetics (Linguistics), Advanced French Composition, History of the French Language, and Readings in Biblical Hebrew. I'm also on a grant-funded project in which I'm translating 17th Century French plays into English. So, I've got languages coming out of my ears. I am such a big word nerd.

Ummm
... Thinking... Oh! So, I just got asked out for Saturday. Now, normally when one is in college (and especially at BYU, I'm sure) that's not such an odd occurrence. But who ever said that I was normal? I haven't been on a date in, and I am not joking, years. Literally. Years. I think my last one was in December of 2006... I guess I just haven't really been pursuing anything like that. In fact, I think I might have been discouraging it. Oops!

Anyway, I think it will be fun. My date is a guy in my new ward. He seems to be really nice. We have some common interests (mainly Hebrew) and it could prove to be quite the adventure. Apparently there is a group of us that are going to go to "downtown" Provo, wander around for a bit, and when we find a restaraunt that looks good we're going to head in for dinner. It's a little random, but definitely my kind of thing! Woohoo!

Conference weekend was pretty good, and kind of not. Let me explain. My sister came down from Idaho on Friday to spend the weekend with me. She had gotten tickets to the Saturday afternoon session. That evening we went to a play on campus. It was Dial "M" for Murder, a Hitchcock. And it was so good! Sarah has been acting in the community theater back home, so I knew she'd love it. Well, that night also brought along with it a nice fever for my poor sister. She hadn't been feeling well earlier, and was burning up before we left for the play. I gave her some Ibuprofen and by the middle of the play she had cooled down. Saturday dawned bright and early... well, not so bright as it was pouring rain (And I really mean pouring! It wasn't the normal, sissy, Utah rain. It was great! It even lasted all day!). We had been thinking about taking the bus and TRAX to Salt Lake for the morning session, just to catch an overflow somewhere, but I didn't want to have Sarah tramping about in the cold and rain when she was sick. So, we ended up driving and listened to most of the morning session on the radio. When we got there we called our Uncle Kelly who lives in Chicago. He had come out for Conference and we got to have lunch with him and our pseudo-uncle/cousin (and Kelly's good friend), Wil. It was so good to see them. Afterwards we went to the afternoon session and it was wonderful. Driving back home was a little hinky, the weather was awful and visibility was almost nothing for a good part of the way, but we made it just fine. That night we... gosh, I think we watched Jane Eyre and then went to sleep. On Sunday Sarah was feeling a lot worse. She was wicked congested, had a fever again, and couldn't stop coughing. My poor Goob! We had my hometeachers come over and give her a blessing. I then drugged her up, and she settled herself on the couch to watch the last day of Conference. We had planned a nice big(ish) get-together with Shelle's sister (and my former roommate) Whitney and her friend (also our friend) Chris. We all watched Conference and had a pot luck dinner between sessions. Sarah felt pretty ill most of the time and just hung out on the couch and slept a little. Although she did feel well enough at one point to get up and play a few wicked-crazy rounds of Speed and one insane, memory-bringing game of California Speed. We played those two card games all the time when we were younger. It was amazing. But it really wore her out. We didn't really do much that night. I think I just gave her some music that she had been wanting for a while and we went to bed early. For Monday we had planned for her to come to class with me and she'd leave to go home right after. The weather was bright and beautiful, but Sarah was definitely not feeling well. We both woke up at 6AM, and I had to run to Smith's to get her more medicine. So, after doping her up on NyQuil, I went to my 8 o'clock class and let her sleep. But I just couldn't leave her all alone in a strange place when she was sick and ended up skipping the rest of my day to take care of her. Providentially, my two French classes were canceled, so I only ended up missing Hebrew. She still wasn't feeling well, so we decided she wasn't well enough to drive 250 miles home and she called in sick to work for the next day. We spent the afternoon and evening watching movies. We both got to bed pretty early, and aside from waking up a few times to give her more medicine, we slept in until about 9. She was feeling much better at this point. She still had a cough, but she wasn't as feverish and didn't feel weak and dizzy like she had been. We then proceeded to watch another movie, got her packed up, and she left for home when I left for school. What a weekend!

I must say, though, that I hated to see her go. I always hate being parted from her, whether it be me going back to Utah from a visit home or her taking off for home from visiting me. I love her so much. I really can't wait to graduate and move home for a little while. Not too long, just long enough to spend some quality time and not always have to be going away.

So now it doesn't feel like it's Wednesday today, it feels like Monday; which I think is a good thing. Friday will come much faster this way, I'm sure.

Today was pretty busy. Along with my normal schedule of classes I got some errands done on campus that I have been putting off for a little bit. After Phonetics I picked up my application for graduation. I got it all filled out and signed by the Academic Adviser (who just happened to be Shelle's aunt, Paula) and then took it to the ASB (administration building) to turn it in and pay the fee. So, it looks like I really am graduating in April! Holy cow!! After that I faxed in my registration card to the Bingham County Elections Office so that I could register to vote and get my absentee ballot in order to vote for the next President. I thought that was probably important.

After classes I came home, fully intending to take a nap, but instead I ended up doing laundry, rearranging the entertainment center in the front room, and talking to John Albert. Not all at the same time, of course.
And now look at me! Finishing a nice, long, (hopefully) interesting blog. Hurray for me. :) I think I've babbled on for quite long enough. I'll just leave you all in suspense for next time.

You blogged AND you have a hot date!!!!!!! Hooray for you! You'll totally have to fill me in on how it goes. Hope your sis is feeling better! You have a much better gift with languuages than I do- it's neat that you can do all that.

I think I have a longer record in the whole "not dating" thing but I did do some speedating in Pittsburgh the other weekend. Does that count? No hot dates there, though.
