I think I'm in love...
with Olive Garden's Steak Gorgonzola-Alfredo, that is. Shelle and I went out to dinner and a movie last night. Mostly it was to deliver me from the evils of Single's Ward FHE (even though I was one of the ones that organized it... heh heh), but also for Shelle and I to go out and have fun. Even though we live together (or maby because we do) we don't really hang out much. So we went out to Olive Garden for dinner and then saw the movie Push. It was a fun evening.

And boy is life moving along! Today the symposiums started in my senior seminar class. That is, the students have started presenting their papers to the class and to anyone that wants to come. My presentation is next week. I must admit, I'm nervous. No, I'm scared. But not scared to death (yet), this doesn't rate that. The presentations today were really interesting and done well. It gave me a good perspective on how to do my own presentation.
And my paper is actually starting to come along, too! I really can't wait for all of this to be over. Sigh...

My other classes are all going well. There's a lot to do, but I think I'll be equal to it. Hopefully. I've felt so flaky and out of it lately, though. Really distracted, but I don't know why. Nothing has changed. Maybe it's just that the end of BYU is getting so close. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Hmmm... What else... I tell ya, my life is not very interesting at all. In the time that I'm not in school I'm either doing or worrying over homework, thinking about life in general, watching TV or a movie, or reading a book. Not a whole lot goes on.

I did go to a choir concert with a good friend of mine the other evening. It was the BYU Concert Choir. The performance was beautiful in all of the technical aspects, but it seemed so emotionally removed. It was really... what was the word I used... rigid. Thankfully Lee, my friend, felt the same way, so I'm not just crazy. And he knows what he's talking about. Music is what he does, and choir music specifically.

Something funny happened afterward, though. The lights were up in the auditorium (it was in the DeJong, for those of you that might know) and Lee and I were standing and waiting for people to move so that we could leave. So many people throughout the evening had been saying hello to him that it didn't seem strange when another person approached us. But this guy, instead of stopping at Lee, reached around him (and he is a big, tall man) and said, "Did you just get here?" to me and stuck out his hand for me to shake. I guess the look on my face showed my surprise (more like near-shock) because he then said, "It is Carly, isn't it?" I replied in the negative and the poor guy was completely flustered.

We had been told earlier that the BYU Singers (another of the choirs) was celebrating their 25th anniversary and had had a reunion that day. The poor guy thought I was someone from the reunion that he hadn't seen in five years. He was so embarrassed. I tried to smooth things over and said I had one of those faces and it happened all the time. And he replied with something like, yeah you do and "it's a lovely face." A great consolation to that last remark was that the guy didn't appear to be any form of a creep, just a nice guy, so I said, "You're too kind," and he went on his way. Lee and I both got a smile out of it. :)

So, there's your exciting story from my life. Enjoy it while you can, they are few and far between. I'll work on finding more of those puppies, but there are no promises. In fact, the prospects are looking quite dismal. At least until after I graduate! Good luck and good night.

Oh yeah! I forgot! It's the name that I went by the last time I went to BYU. You know, while I was on my mission. In Connecticut. :)

Hi Carly! Don't you just love people sometimes? That was pretty funny. At BB&B I used to have people ask me where they knew me from...and I didn't know them at all! I have one of those faces too. Was he cute or single or anything? Cause that would be a funny way to meet your intended! Maybe I'll have to try that. "Hey your name is Andy, right? No? Well I'm Liz..." LOL

Dang it's a shame we don't live closer, I'd totally be up for ditching fhe together. I'm kindof curious why you didn't want to go...I'm now reduced to being one of 3 girl (me, my sister and annoying Candance) and all the boys have gone! My friend Stef hates going to fhe cause everyone is 10 yrs younger!
Good luck with everything when its your turn to speak! And thanks for blogging! I think your life is more interesting than you think.
